Our floss is ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) woven floss, which makes it highly durable and non-toxic. None of our floss is coated or waxed, and it does not contain any PTFEs, PFAs, or other chemicals.
Our Blue and Mint floss heads use woven floss that is infused with nano Hydroxyapatite (nHA) for remineralizing benefits. The Mint is also infused with subtle natural mint flavor. All other floss head colors are unflavored.

Slate floss heads are reusable (like your toothbrush!) Just rinse and allow to dry after each use, and change out weekly (for regular, daily flossers) for best results.
Those with extremely tight teeth or a lot of dental work may experience some fraying due to increased friction on the floss. We recommend using one of our Smooth floss head options and/or swapping out the floss head every 3-5 days if needed.
Those that floss more casually might not need to change floss heads as often!
We recently changed our floss head refill packaging to 12-pack, 24-pack, and 3-pack (sample) options.
With the intended one week per floss head usage rate, you should get about 3 months of use from a 12-pack and around 6 months of use from a 24-pack. We made the packaging switch to be more in line with how often dentists recommend changing out your toothbrush (every 3 months).
If you sign up for a subscription for floss head refills, you can customize the frequency of your refill shipments based on your needs!
YES! The Slate Pro has an IPX7 rating and the Slate Origin has an IPX5 rating. This scale ranges from 0 (no protection) to 8 for the highest level of protection.
Both of our electric flossers (Pro and Origin) are safe to use in the shower if you’d like.
We do recommend that you allow the floss head to fully dry between uses to prevent bacteria growth.
To remove a floss head, place your thumb on the back of the neck of the flosser, just below the tongue scraper and press down firmly on a hard surface until it pops off.
HOW TO USE VIDEOTo connect a new floss head, slide the top of the flosser neck up through middle of the floss head and press firmly on the back of the tongue scraper until it snaps in on both sides (make sure the interacting logos on the flosser and the floss head are both pointing upward).
HOW TO USE VIDEOYes! It is very important to continue flossing regularly in areas with veneers or crowns. If you have any sharp edges or areas that are catching on the floss string, talk to your dental professional about smoothing those out!

You can still use the Slate Flosser and floss heads on your molars, where most cavities form!

I had high hopes because it’s 1) electric, and 2) the flosser heads are supposed to be changed weekly, or so I thought. I just purchased off of Amazon a week ago, and so far have replaced the flosser heads 4 times because the thread split. What this means is, I still must rely on manual flossers. However, the tongue cleaner is a plus. Overall, I’m disappointed. I expected with such a hefty price, the floss thread would have been a lot sturdier and gentler to my gums. I also noticed that the thread can cut the gums if used with a heavy-hand. If considering purchasing, save your money. I’m pretty upset that I can’t receive a refund as it’s already been used.

I was really excited to get this and step up my flossing game. Really in-between Slate and Flaus for a really long time. I decided to go with Slate for a few reasons. 1 - the reusable floss heads, 2 - built in tongue scrubber and 3 - the size of the handle. However, I was extremely let down by the floss head already fraying by the second day of use and the fibers getting caught in between my teeth. The floss head is supposed to last 5 days to a week and it clearly does not. I wish I would've taken the other reviews more seriously of those experiencing the same issues while following directions. The tongue scrapper is a nice add on but the floss head is so bulky that once you flip it over to use the scrapper, it really only reaches the first half of the tongue. Lastly, I find doing manual flossing, followed by a water flosser is more effective than this. I really want to return this and get my FSA funds back.
I got this set as a gift for my grandparents and my in-laws and they love it!! It has everything they need to get into the habit of flossing easily. I have the slate electric flosser and the mini already so this set is really just all of my favorite things combined!! So nice to have a box of floss head refills included and the process to subscribe for more refills is super easy. Can't recommend this product enough!

I absolutely LOVE this flosser. It's so easy to use, feels nice and keeps my teeth so clean. I loathe wrapping floss around my fingers, this device takes away that dread. It's nice to properly floss, the backs of my lower front teeth still look like I had a cleaning done. Amazing. Instead of dreading flossing, I am truly enjoying it.

This is all in all a great flosser but the design is faulty for those of us with wider molars. The edges of the gadget holding the floss center are not wide enough to fit my molars and the floss will not go in no matter how I rock it. I need a wider head. I will be returning this as I have tried my best to no avail. I do have two less expensive electric flossers that do fit my teeth so I know that it is not a user error.
Please notify me if you make a floss head with more length of floss and wider sides.

This flosser is the best thing I've ever added to my nightly routine (in addition to my electric toothbrush). It makes flossing so easy that I now often floss twice a day; I used to "occasionally" floss before but I haven't skipped a day of flossing since getting it. I'm so, so happy with how clean it makes my teeth feel. My hygienist even commented on how good my gums looked at my last dentist appointment - using this single tool stopped all bleeding and sensitivity around my crowns by reaching areas my toothbrush simply couldn't. But more than anything, I love the tongue scraper on this thing! I purchased it for my kids (ages 11 and 9) and they now floss every night too without complaint. 10/10 would recommend.

I've had a super positive experience with the Slate flosser! I've tried a number of different flossing products over the years – floss sticks, the Quip floss product, flavored floss like Cocofloss, etc. – and none have been great, but this is the first time I can honestly say I've actually enjoyed flossing! I have never been a regular flosser due to tight molars and limited reach; and I never have liked any brand of OTC floss sticks. But I can say that after two weeks with the Slate Pro -- I love it! My only disappointment was making the purchase before realizing I could claim a free mini -- so I'm hoping I can still get one if possible. It has been a great addition to my daily routine & I hope my dentist will see the difference!
I’m very consistent with flossing daily as I’m well aware of the importance but I always viewed it as a chore that needed to be done. But that’s changed now that I purchased the Slate electric flosser! I’ve been using it for a couple months and love it!
