SLATE Electric Flosser – Is Your Mouth Slate Clean?

The SLATE Electric Flosser is the only tool you need, in addition to your toothbrush, to achieve ideal oral health.

Ok, admit it… most of y’all aren’t flossing every day. I wasn’t until a few years ago when Dr. Snyder introduced me to a Flosser Stick. Something about getting the long string of floss, wrapping it around your fingers, and digging through your mouth just never appealed to me. It felt like such a chore!

Heaven knows I already have like a 12-step nightly skincare routine so adding one more task to my list just felt daunting.

And, when I actually did floss, turns out I wasn’t doing it right.

Toothbrushes have gotten very good at cleaning the biting surfaces and the sides of the teeth, which is exactly what they are designed to do. But, even after a toothbrush does its job, tons of harmful bacteria are left behind, primarily in the spaces between teeth and on the surface of the tongue.

Enter the Slate Electric Flosser.

The Slate Electric Flosser has changed the flossing game for me! Now, I genuinely look forward to flossing every. single. night. Oh gosh, if only my 8 year old self could hear those words she’d laugh in my face and as she lied to the dentist saying “yes, yes, I totally floss every day”.

But seriously, y’all…. it feels SO GOOD! Turn on the gently vibration, and let the gentle brush-head clean in those hard-to-reach places. It’s seriously like a massage for your gums! Finish it off with a tongue sweep and voila. Then prepare to WOW with clean teeth, fresh breath, and a dental hygienist that will love you!

As it turns out… Bacteria stuck between your teeth can cause CAVITIES and make your breath super STINKY, but they also can cause HEART DISEASE, ARTERY DISEASE, DEMENTIA, and complications related to DIABETES.

Scary stuff! Luckily, Dr. Snyder (our South Hill Family Dentist) has spent years and years and countless hours inventing this most perfect Electric Flosser. the SLATE.

Dr. Danny Snyder is a dentist who HATES cavities. He had so many unpleasant dental visits as a child that he once told his dentist that the “D” on his Detroit Tigers tee-ball jersey stood for “Dentist Hater.” Well, you know what they say about karma. Dr. Snyder channels the fear and anxiety he felt at the dentist as a young kid to educate his patients on how to live a life free of cavities and gum disease. After several years of turning himself blue trying to motivate his patients, friends, and family to floss, he finally decided to approach the unpleasantries of flossing from a different angle.

Dr. Snyder quickly realized that an easy-to-use flossing tool that properly cleans the entire space between teeth just simply didn’t exist, so he decided to invent one.

“We decided to start with the end goal in mind. Our goal was not to just invent a better flosser. Our goal was to disrupt and remove as much plaque and bacteria as possible while simultaneously stimulating the soft tissues of the mouth that also harbor bacteria. That guiding principle effected the design of every aspect of the Slate Electric Flosser.”

Non-flexible, one-piece handle

For years, Dr. Snyder has used dental instruments of all shapes and sizes to clean and repair his patients’ teeth. Design cues from these tried and true tools were crucial in developing a handle for the Slate Electric Flosser that was ergonomic and effective at easily accessing each and every tooth in the mouth. The one-piece design of the handle with contra-angle neck provides the precise control necessary for flossing. The vibrating motor is located within the neck of the flosser to maximize vibration to the floss head.

The secret sauce lies in the Gum Sweeps

Handled flossers have existed for years, greatly simplifying the dreaded task of cutting off the circulation of the fingers. But the goal of flossing is not to just pass as piece of string between our teeth. The goal is to remove as much of the plaque and bacteria from between our teeth as possible. The design of our patented Gum Sweeps mimics the shape of our teeth and gums in the spaces between teeth. Strategically placed ribs and bristles sweep and remove the plaque and food particles that normally remain undisturbed after brushing alone. It may sound complicated, but it’s as easy as sliding the floss head back and forth from tongue-to-cheek. Simple. Easy. Effective.

Anatomically-Shaped, 3-Blade Tongue Scraper

Most of the bacteria that cause bad breath live on the surface of the tongue. Brushing the tongue can help remove some of that bacteria, but studies have shown that a tongue scraper can remove 30% more odor-causing bacteria than a toothbrush. The tongue scraper on the Slate Electric Flosser has two rows of rubber bristles that lift and rake the hairs of the tongue in preparation of the final straight blade that squeegees and removes all the nasty gunk. The shape of the tongue scraper mimics the natural curvatures of an extended tongue.

High-Quality Multi-Use Floss Heads

Other flosser brands recommend that the floss heads be changed after every use, but the replaceable floss heads of the Slate Electric Flosser are designed to last. Depending on how tight the user’s tooth contacts are and whether their teeth or fillings have sharp edges, our floss heads have proven to last between one to three weeks. For best results, we recommend that the floss head be replaced each week. With twice daily use compared to single-use floss heads or floss picks, Slate floss heads can keep almost 700 floss picks from hitting the landfill per year.
